A 30 second commercial doesn’t ask you to do anything. The goal is not to sell, it’s to leave you with a good impression that you associate a specific product the next time you see it or need it…
An infomercial on the other hand is all about sales.
The goal is to get you off the couch and on the phone placing your order…
You might not know the name, Ron Popeil, one of the masters of infomercial sales but you’re probably familiar with some of the sales tricks he would use to get massive results like:
- Offering freebies and bonuses for purchases made within the next 15 minutes…
- Creating emotional connections by using statements like, «This blender doesn’t just make smoothies, it saves you hours of precious time that you can spend with your family. You do want more time with your family, right?»
- He assigned numbers to customers to drive up scarcity…
But what’s he’s probably best known for is the classic phrase «But wait, there’s more!»
That classic line that you hear over and over in almost every infomercial…
They repeat their phone numbers over and over…
They remind you of limited quantities over and over…
They countdown the time over and over…
And before they give you the price they say… «But wait, there’s more…»
Why?
Because it works… and it works like a charm…
Sure, the people who don’t buy may find it annoying, but it certainly drives sales…
My point here is simple…
Some things just work better than others and when you find out what works for you, don’t change anything…
Just use it over and over again…
You may not use the exact words «But wait, there’s more…» but when you find the wording that works for you, write it down and have it ready to use at all times.
If you keep using what works, results are just a matter of time…
And if you’re social networking to build your business and not getting the sign-ups, clients, sales or results you want or if you haven’t found what works for you…
