Over the objections of her Republican colleagues, Sen. Dianne Feinstein earlier today released the transcript of congressional investigators’ interview with Fusion GPS co-founder Glenn Simpson, whose firm was behind the controversial dossier alleging ties between President Trump and Russians. What did the transcript reveal? Simpson’s testimony—which Republicans didn’t want released to the public—debunks the conservative counternarrative and confirms that the FBI was already investigating potential links between Donald Trump’s campaign and the Russian government well before they heard anything about the now famous dossier on the matter. As Special Counsel Robert Mueller and his team prepare to interview the President himself and circle Trump’s administration over ties to Russia and potential obstruction of justice, Republicans will continue their efforts to undermine Mueller’s investigation and discredit the FBI, the dossier, and any element of the Trump-Russia probe. We can’t let them get away with this. The American public deserves answers about Russian interference in the 2016 election.
